Our History

In 1991, three buying groups (F.A.B., Inc., Premier Foodservice Distributors of America, Inc., and Pocahontas Foods USA) shared one common goal: to provide their distributors a convenient, cost-effective way to increase their purchasing power. The end result? IPAP was created. The alliance of the three groups extended over time to include the five distributor groups that make up IPAP today: Performance Food Group, UniPro Foodservice, Golbon, F.A.B., Inc. and Federated Foodservice. These five groups represent hundreds of independent distributors. Since its conception, IPAP has purchased over one billion dollars of refrigerated dairy products for their distributors through IPAP.

The volume growth experienced by IPAP is a testament to the value it provides all trading partners. Between 2002 and 2010 the average distributor showed an increase of 230% in pounds purchased through IPAP. This growth has been fueled by a number of sources including more distributors buying through IPAP, more suppliers distributing through IPAP, distributors expanding the range of products purchased from IPAP suppliers and IPAP’s enhanced logistical sources.

Seeing it represents such a vast distributor base, IPAP is able to negotiate the lowest pricing options available. In addition, IPAP takes away the inconvenience of ordering through a number of suppliers. Distributors can place every order for every supplier in one step with IPAP, and in return will only receive one invoice for the entire product order.
